CIVIL REGISTRATION MONTH 2010

President Corazon C. Aquino through Proclamation No. 682 issued on January 28, 1991 declared the month of February of every year as the Civil Registration Month. It aims to "remind the citizenry of their duty to register acts and events concerning status of persons, and enhance nationwide awareness and appreciation of the legal, administrative and statistical values of civil registry documents."

Civil Registration touches on each one of us at numerous stages in our lives. It commences when our births are registered and ends with the registration of our deaths. In the intervening years, civil registration affects us both directly, as in the case of getting married, or indirectly when certificates are required for many of the services that are available in our society. The importance of civil registration becomes evident at several times in a person’s life e.g. enrolling a child in school, applying for a passport, taking up employment, or claiming social welfare benefits.

Yearly the Civil Registration Month is celebrated by implementing various programs promoting Civil Registration awareness.  This year, the SALES-AMADOR administration cooperatively supports the Local Civil Registry Office in conducting and sponsoring the free late registration and the free Civil Mass Wedding on February 26, 2010.

The free late registration and mass wedding was announced in a meeting on 19 January 2010 attended by the Barangay Secretaries and of all the Barangay Health Workers who had been very cooperative in scouting beneficiaries to their respective communities.

The Local Civil Registry Office personnel are conducting a mobile free late registration to the different Barangays of the municipality.
