BAGS SECOND IN BALITOK A TAWIR

December 2, 2011. Lingayen, Pangasinan  - LGU Manaoag Choral grabs the second place in the Choral Competition held at the Sison auditorium here in celebration of the Balitok a Tawir staged by the Provincial Government  led by the Honorable Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr.

The event “priceless heritage” is translated in the Pangasinan dialect “Balitok a Tawir”, is initiated by Governor Espino set its aim of raising the level of awareness of the people, especially the youth on the rich cultural dance and song inheritance of Pangasinan.  The concept is to know the roots and build the sense of belongingness and identity of the Pangasinenses, also launched as part of the I Love Pangasinan campaign of the Provincial Government.

 

 

Manaoag Municipal Mayor Napoleon D. Sales and wife Dr. Angie R. Sales were there to support and cheer for theManaoag contingent, confident enough that they will bag the Championship but Lingayen Choral Group emerged Champion and ruled the competition participated in by the different Municipalities in Pangasinan.

Vice Mayor Kim Amador cheered alongside the other Municipal Employees present, most of whom were participants of the Zarzuela contest that followed where Manaoag is the Grand Winner.

“It was a close fight” with the Lingayen contingent but in the spirit of camaraderie and holiday season, Manaoag is more than delighted to grab the second spot, beating the other 6 Municipalities.

The Manaoag Choral members are: Municipal Councilors Maria Isabel C. Villacorta and Atty. Gerald M. Tabadero; MSWDO Myrna A. Dacanay, RSW; MCR Sheila E. Garcia; and Municipal Employees namely: Catherine Tiburan, ZenaidaNavarette, Norylyn Tamayo, Cindy Mae Ramos, Marvin, Bjay Bautista, Apolinario Valdez, JoebertCalaunan, WilfredoGabriel,Ginalyn, PrudencioMarra, George Cristobal,LynieAbar, Cecilia Abrigo, Raymund Benitez, Mia Grace Veloria, Wilfredo Gabriel, Carol Ina Palconete, Walter Marra, Wensey Flores, Adela Palma, GinalynBautista.

They sang the undying Pangasinan Hymn, “MalinaclayLabi” and the local Christmas song “Galikin”.

Kitt Villanueva, an internationally renowned artistic director trained and conducted the refinedManaoag Choral Group.

The awarding of prizes will be distributed on 16 December 2011 during the LGU Night Christmas Celebration.

 

MANAOAG WOWS JUDGES – TOPS ZARZUELA CONTEST

December 2, 2011, Lingayen, Pangasinan - MANAOAG wins first place in Zarzuela, in the recently concluded 1stPangasinan Culture and Arts Festival dubbed as “Balitok a Tawir” grand finals held at the Sison Auditorium at the Provincial Capitol grounds.

The event highlighted by competitions in Zarzuela, Cultural Dance and Choral was sponsored by the Provincial Government spearheaded by the HonorablePangasinan Governor Amado T. Espino, Jr. with the aim of promoting Pangasinan culture and recapture the priceless cultural heritage of Pangasinan.

Balitok a Tawir is the apt translation of “priceless heritage” in celebration of the rich culture the Pangasinses inherited by the Pangasinenses.

Governor Espino delivered his message in pure Pangasinan dialect stating that reviving and preserving the local culture requires a thorough understanding and acceptance of our roots.

The event culminated with the ceremonial lighting of the 45-foot Provincial Christmas tree at the Capitol grounds where the 2nd Placer Manaoag Choral sang the “Galikin”, a Pangasinan Christmas song and Manaoag Municipal Mayor Napoleon D. Sales, together with the Mayors of the participating LGUs pin their respective star lantern bearing their Official Seal.

The performers come from the different Departments: Marie Anna Liza Geronimo (Panyang), Margie Flores (Donya Barbie), Myrna Dacanay (Senyora Maria), George Cristobal (Asyong), Cynthia Malagayo (Nanay Soling), Manuel AbadKonduktor), PrudencioMarra (Driver), AnicetaLlamido (Vendor), RhaizaLamban (Vendor), Josie Villanda (Vendor), Gina Paragas (Student), Bernadette Cabingas (Student), Cristopher Rosario (Bakla), Gilbert Fernandez (Bakla), Christopher Aquino (Matakew), Lee Mann Ferrer (Matakew), Apolinario Valdez (Pulis), Wensey Flores (Pulis), Cecilia AbrigoTurista), MarnelieVillaram (Turista), Raymond Tamondong (Priest), JoebertCalaunan (Mateo), Jacinto Melvin Perez (Technical), Byron Jay Bautista (Technical), Sheila Garcia (Technical), Norylyn Tamayo (Technical).
