What a completely fantastic looking place! I have been traveling a lot though Asia over the last few years, and I think I will have to add this town to my list! I am originally from India, so I have travelled through almost all of India, as well as Pakistan, Dubai, as well as Singapore, but I think Manaoag is the next stop for me!
Thank you for making it such a beautiful website!Saturday, 26 November 2011

I enjoyed reading about Manoag. The church interior in particular is very beautiful and different to the European style I am used to. It's more colourful, for one thing. Wish I could visit! Interesting website - thank you

I grew up here in Manaoag since we migrated here in 1992 - 2001. Na obserbahan ko pag asenso nito since nagbabakasyon palang kami dito nung taga manila pa kami. We always attend mass in church together with my family and aways visits our cousins in Cabanbanan. I'm from Barangay Cabanbanan before in year 1992 because my Mom's family was in Cabanbanan and we moved to Barangay Nalsian in 1993. I studied in Nalsian Elementary School and take secondary in Holy Rosary Academy 1998 - 2001 then nag move na ulit kami sa Manila. Marami na daw pagbabago sa town and sana makita ko. Sana may mag update sa akin dito he..he.. balebalen agew ed si kayo mga taga Manaoag.

MANILA, June 17, 2011— A major basilica in Rome has granted plenary indulgence to those who will visit the Shrine of Our Lady of Manaoag in Pangasinan.
Catholics visiting the site will be able to receive an indulgence, which the Church teaches as a full pardon of the temporal punishment due to sins which have already been forgiven.
Thousands of pilgrims visit Manaoag everyday because of the many miracles attributed to Our Lady of the Holy Rosary.
Lingayen-Dagupan Archbishop Socrates Villegas said the special indulgence has been authorized by the Cardinal Archpriest of the Papal Basilica of Saint Mary Major in Rome.
Cardinal Bernard Francis Law, he said, has granted the Manaoag Shrine “a special bond of spiritual affinity through which the pilgrims who visit the said Marian Shrine are assured of the blessings of the Lord as if they actually visit the said major basilica in Rome.”
“The Manaoag pilgrims are assured by the Sacred Penitentiary of a plenary indulgence under the usual conditions of the Church when they visit the Shrine Our Lady of Manaoag,” Villegas said in a circular dated June 13.
Pilgrims receive the indulgence by going to confession near the time of their pilgrimage, receiving the Eucharist, and praying for the intentions of the Pope, each done in a spirit of detachment from the attraction of sin.
The Papal Basilica of Saint Mary Major was one of the first basilicas in Rome that was built in honor of the Blessed Virgin.
In order to commemorate the “honor” granted to a sanctuary within his archdiocese, Villegas will celebrate a Mass at the Manaoag Shrine on July 22.
“…During which the appropriate documents from the Holy See will be formally announced to the Catholic faithful,” he said. (CBCPNews)
